Manager, Marketing Technical Services Jan 1993-June 1996
Senior Software Engineer July 1986-Jan 1993
Was a member of the core team that designed and implemented the TENPRINTER electronic fingerprint system. The system consisted of a multi-processor system in a VME card cage. My responsibilities included system design, implementation, unit test, system test, module integration, documentation and customer training. Responsible for all telecommunications modules and the user interface for the TENPRINTER product. Listed on US patent 4,792,226 as an inventor of the TENPRINTER.
Developed process for software field updates of the system that reduced system downtime to less than five minutes and eliminated possibility of operator error, resulting in significant cost savings and increased satisfaction in the field service department.
Did performance reviews for other team members, recommending salary adjustments and next year's goals.
As Manager of Marketing Technical Services, my responsibilities included evaluation of new system features, technical support for marketing and sales, proposal writing, and working closely with prospects and customers so as to provide cost-effective and appropriate solutions.
Moore Data Management Services, St. Louis Park, MN
Software Engineer 1983-1986
Helped develop an on-line database system for realtors. The system ran on DEC VAX minicomputers under the VMS operating system. Wrote code to support a graphical front end to a relational database back end to service dial-in users.
Primary responsibilities involved design and coding of routines to facilitate data entry into the system, database administration, system integration and tuning. Knowledge of the relational database engine as well as VMS operating system internals was essential. Successfully developed a system that worked well over low speed phone lines, and also fine-tuned the database to deal with ad hoc queries without adversely impacting system performance.
